Doesn't seem ludicrous to me. If there isn't anywhere to walk around and play where they live and to walk to someplace it is would take too long.....

then go to where the dog can play and run.

I take my kids to a park. It's not because they can't play at our house, but I understand that they get something different from being someplace else, so we go there.

The dog gets something from being someplace else, so they go there.
