I'm not an avalanchologist, so this is just poorly informed speculation.
Much has been made about avalanches being unlikely in this specific location. However, I have read that most people who are buried in avalanches start the avalanches themselves. In other words, if you take an area that is not likely to have an avalanche, and you add a dozen hypothermic hikers, the equation just changed.
Second, I'm not a fan of the alternate explanation of naked bodies, i.e., the idae that they slept in a pile, got too hot, and took off their clothes. That seems like a reach. I remember a long time ago in forensic anthropology class learning that it is super common in flash floods for victims' clothes to be stripped off by the water. I wonder if the same is true for avalanches? Victims of a snow slab avalanche would have very different physical experiences depending on their location. Some would just be immediately buried, while others would be violently tossed around.
As far as missing body parts, it took searchers a long time to get there. I think predators could easily explain that.
