No, it sounds like speculation. She has no citations. I found the relevant passage:

"To sleep cold they'd have needed to share body heat efficiently. That meant stripping down to a bare minimum of sleepwear and sleeping in a big puppy-pile under common covers. And that meant that, in the middle of the night when they decided that it was, indeed, much too cold, the first thing they needed to do was dress to go outside."

You're right, this appears to be a weakness in the theory.
