We took a tour to Delphi, and a trip to the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion. We would have gone to Meteora if we had time.

In Athens, Plaka is the tourist area. We stayed in Monastiraki and Omonoia which is still walking distance from the major sites but cheaper.

For food, try long-cooked/stewed dishes like lamb limonata, stifado and souzoukakia - they were amazing there with local ingredients and I never see them at Greek restaurants here.

- Also, if you're not sick of islands, there are a few that are about an hour/90 minute ferry ride from Athens. Aegina and Hydra. -- nm - Roger More Nov 1, 12:57
