A quick check shows Uber would be half the cost at $87 before tip. A taxi is slightly cheaper with a $70 flat rate from JFK to the city. -- nm

There's a $5 surcharge for rush hour so it goes to $75. And you're correct, it doesn't include tolls or tips. -- nm

Tolls can be avoided by taking the bridges but it will add on travel time. -- nm

No good way to the bridges (other than maybe Queensboro) from JFK. But really Van Wyck -> LIE -> Midtown Tunnel is the route to take. Pay the toll. -- nm
