ty, I don't see how Nixon's pardon allowed America to move on. It meant that ordinary Americans decided to stop talking about Watergate and Vietnam

but it's not as though American politicians put in place systems to hold the President accountable for any crimes they commit.
If anything, the oppsote lesson of "how do we get away with it?" was learned and so democracy and institutions have been continually eroded, leading to the the current situation - where a losing presidential candidate stirs up an insurrection to wreck the election process, has a perfunctory impeachment that doesn't bother to hear the evidence against him, is allowed to run again with vengeance as a key pillar of his platform, and will probably try the same thing again if he loses, potentially with a Supreme Court that will look favourably on any legal challenges he brings.
Trump and the people who back him aren't going to end this saga and move forward, they are going to keep doing what they are doing, pardon or no pardon.
