To ease some of the stress of Election Day, the Houston Humane Society is bringing four-legged cuteness to a Pearland voting location for a pup- petting session.
The humane society will have shelter pups on-site Tuesday at West Pearland Library, offering voters a chance to enjoy free puppy cuddles. West Pearland Library is at 11801 Shadow Creek Parkway in Pearland.
"This initiative aims to make the voting experience both fun and relaxing as everyone lets their voices be heard. It’s 'Paws-itively Patriotic to Vote,' so stop by, say 'Hi,' and don’t miss out on the opportunity to make a difference and enjoy some free puppy therapy," said a release from the humane society.
The puppies will be at the polling location from 12-2 p.m. Tuesday. Polls will be open until 7 p.m.
Also, keep the “I Voted” sticker when you vote. The Houston Humane Society’s Wellness Clinic will offer a free rabies vaccine for pet owners who show their sticker through the month of November.
For 66 years, the Houston Humane Society has been dedicated to, and working toward, ending cruelty, abuse and the overpopulation of animals while providing the highest quality of life to those brought to the shelter for care.
In 2023, the Houston Humane Society distributed more than 500,000 pet meals to animals in need, performed more than 10,000 spay-neuter surgeries, provided veterinary services for more than 30,000 animals, and enabled nearly 3,000 animals to find their forever homes.
