I woke up today wishing I hadn't booked a trip to NY. Sharing time:

Gillian, our oldest, is going by Max now. Whether this is a permanent thing or not (as my wife said, "am I an asshole if I still don't buy it?") there's something out of the norm there, and it's been on my mind how dangerous the world is for people that are different. It got a whole lot more dangerous last night even though we're a country away.
And yeah, it's NY, and the bluest of the blue, but visiting America might feel like a sneak peak at a funeral. How do you look at the Statue of Liberty and see it for a lie? With the ricochet that last night will have, America won't be fixed in our lifetimes. There's a non-zero chance it's the last time I set foot in it. If 9/11 was a gunshot to the future, last night was a slow moving cancer for it.

Statistically, it's impossible for so many of my friends' kids to be trans/nonbinary. I think they will all sort it out. -- nm

We were looking at a New York weekend in Jan, dinner, broadway, just for fun. I cancelled my flight price alert this morning. -- (edited)
