Honestly I think it's kind low, but if you are polite and nice, most people will accept that you aren't one of the assholes.

Even when I went to Ireland and England a decade ago when people realized I was American they kind of looked at me funny. But once talking with them, they relaxed and were chill. Surprisingly more people wanted to talk about sports than politics. Though I'm sure that's changed now.
