On the economic angle though, perhaps voters feel some actual truth to it. 'The economy' is strong, true. But who is it strong for? -- (edited)

Record stock market highs don't mean all of much to the person living paycheck to paycheck, for example.
If the monthly budget is getting tighter for that person, screaming "but the economy is strong!" doesn't help and probably hinders.
Now, of course, right wing media broadly lied constantly about the economy as a whole. But trickle-down is a lie, and that strong economy is NOT trickling down.
