However, I remember after Obama was elected the first time and there was a palpable outrage by the ultra-right (a progenitor of where we are now) ...there was a concerted effort by those of us who voted for him to reach out to those who didn't. It was at the cusp of Social Media and I remember an active effort to do outreach. it was called The 53% to the 47% or something to that effect.
It was met with flaming bags of crap.
MAGA is enraged. MAGA want someone to pay. That's it.
But I agree with your overall premise, political discourse is nonexistent on both sides.
