We are three-dimensional beings wrestling with a five-dimensional creator and existence beyond our universe.

Whatever it is that lies beyond and whatever we call it. The supernatural, the multiple universes, Asgard, or whatever.
We can each catch a glimpse occasionally -- an epiphany or inspiration -- but each of us can see through only the tiniest of portals into whatever lies beyond. Some of us manage to experience greater inspirations, the artists, poets, prophets, philosophers, or paradigm-changing scientists.
It's only when we put our minds together, or maybe our hearts and minds together, in large enough groups that we start to get a better picture of the supernatural. Kind of like pointillist painting: If we can each add our own point to the picture, we can gain a broader picture at a higher resolution.
That's my theory anyway.
