Bring back the old way with no playoffs and just let the best driver win. If you want to incentivize wins, give the winner a big point bonus.

there's nothing more fun than trying to figure out the points in this clusterfuck where a guy wins the race, leads 60% of the laps, and somehow gets the 3rd most points in the race because someone else led during laps at the 25% and 50% marks because of whatever.

If your race is so boring that no one is racing for the first 3/4 of it...shorten it instead of coming up with numerology to justify something happening that doesn't match what everyone saw.
