She might have stayed that way has she left differently.

She only had 1 movie over $100m, and that had very little to do with her. Her only movies where she was a draw made $76m and $88m. They happened while she was still on TV. After that she could barely break $50m. Part of that was due to (and her mom) making herself nearly unhirable.
I think the perception of her drawing power was always higher than her actual drawing power.
