One of favorite go-to truth brags is that I have a fossilized oyster on my work shelf. Part of an acquired batch dug up in Florida.

It really /IS/ a fossil, oysters grow over years, and do so by consuming other shells from dead oysters. They don’t distinguish between newly dead oysters and ones that lived/died a million years ago.
