the gingerbread always went in the garbage after Christmas so seemed a big waste now that they are older.

For Lego we bought a bunch of Christmas sets (tree, gingerbread men, poinsetta, a couple other small ones). Now instead of putting together a gingerbread house they can all do LEGOs, we will bag them up and break them out again next year and repeat.
