slightly jarring since it goes out to anyone who is 55+ next year (that's the jarring part) and has a tenure of 20+ years.

There are quite a few people on my team and in my department who got the offer. I know of at least a few on my team who are going to take it. It will be interesting to see the impact this has, at least in the short term.
