A Complete Unknown is an upcoming American biographical drama film directed by James Mangold, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jay Cocks. Based on the 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric! Newport, Seeger, Dylan, and the Night That Split the Sixties by Elijah Wald, the film revolves around the controversy surrounding the switch to electrically amplified instrumentation by Bob Dylan. Timothée Chalamet (who also produces) stars as Dylan, with Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, and Monica Barbaro in supporting roles.
