After the game, he threw the coaching staff after the bus. He said he ceded to the coaching staff, who didn't call a play until 15 seconds left.

And that play wouldn't have worked in 15 seconds. So, he audibled to one he thought had a chance.
Lack of accountability notwithstanding, he definitely put it all on the coaches.
