So with a 4-team playoff it would be Oregon/Penn St winner, Texas/Georgia winner, Notre Dame, and then a mess for the 4th team.

Oregon would still be in the conversation if they lost the Big 10 Championship.
Penn St would be out with a loss
Georgia would be out with a loss in the SEC championship
Texas would maybe make an argument with a loss
Would they put an SEC or Big 10 team who didn’t make the conference championship game? That was an easier argument to make when there were divisions and you could be in the stronger division of your conference.
Would it be SMU if they win the ACC?
