I would love for someone to take on the argument for why cutting costs is necessary. Running a deficit is not in and of itself a bad thing.

If it's only so they can cut more taxes then make them make that argument, but the idea that the government should look like your personal finances is stupid. But also, many people have debt that is multiples of their annual income (a mortgage). It just isn't how finances work. Especially when you're the one printing the money.
