attention to them. It's like the kid that everyone ignores because he never fit in with the rest of the group, who then goes on to try to steal the ball or kick over the board game. Except that Kim Jong-Il takes this to an entirely new level.
Clinton was able to secure the release of the reporters because Kim got what he wanted -- someone paid attention to him and validated him.
