I'm really hoping that story about Africa is not true.

if it is that's just friggin' frightening.
I've been thinking about her more and more in the last 24 hours (everyone is fully clothed and no one is touching anything). I'm sure she's a nice person, the fact that she decided to keep a disabled child is particularly compelling to me, that's more challenging than most people can imagine, she sounds by all accounts well versed in the issues of Alaska.
But I'm pretty sure she is ill equipped for issues outside her scope of experience. I think if everyone is serious about unifying the country we need to let her go. We need to realize that MSNBC has a vested interest in feeding the Beast and we have to resist the urge to pile on. We need to let her go.
If she sticks her head out of the foxhole she's fair game again however.
I think one of the first things Obama needs to do is tangiably demonstrate how he's going to change the tone of the nations politics. It's not going to be easy. The Internet is a festering cesspool of whacked out, under medicated extremists with keyboards, there are national forces at work who need division, there are media corporations who profit and there's an electorate who too easily grabs for their pitchforks and torches. We need to do better.
I'm with Peggy Noonan on this one.
