I was still employed when I had the stroke/tumor and 90 days were covered by short term disability, then it's up to the employer. I was terminated, but the company picked up 3 months of COBRA. I currently collect from long term disability. If that was an option at work, that was the way she could have gone. Regardless, I think I'd exhaust all options before literally working myself to death...
