The Blue Jays tried to get Alex Rios through waivers? Cheap asses.

Rios is very good *and* locked into a reasonable-ish contract.
Responses:
He's in what should be his prime years.

Every player gets put through waivers. It's not a rare thing in August.

Wha? He has an OPS of .728 and is owed $60 million. If someone claims him on waivers, they should just dump him sans compensation. -- nm

He was .798 last year. His contract is grossly out of proportion with current baseball economics.

I don't see how $10M per is all that atrocious for an Alex Rios.

10mil last offseason could have gotten you Adam Dunn or Raul Ibanez. -- nm

Make Rios a free agent this offseason, what do you think his annual contract value would be? Not less than $8M, no way.

Pat Burrell got $8 million a year. His career OPS is .844.

Career wise, he's subpar in OBP, average in OPS and is getting paid like a superstar.

He's getting Gary Matthews Jr money. We can agree for you to be wrong. -- nm
