Very early on, it looked like Peter Jackson might direct. Now he's going to be the producer, and the District 9 director was his pick to direct.

However, he was unproven ... so David is correct, District 9 might prove him as a director.
However, I think the six months of planning only to have the rug whipped out from under him may have left him with a sour taste about the whole thing.
