Having trouble on the office computer, the cd-rom is not opening on its own, nor does it seem to be recognized by the computer.

I did the paper clip thingy and got the door open, inserted a disk...and nothing.

Check under "My Computer" and the cd-rom drive isn't listed.

Check under "Device Manager" and it says the device is working properly.

Any ideas?

      - well, if he does that, might want them to bring a spare - it's entirely possible the drive itself has blown a cap or something. Might need to replace - Beryllium Aug 10, 13:27
the driver may be either corrupted or missing. you could try a system restore or to reinstall the drivers. -- nm - decline Aug 10, 13:02 2

  - you don't have to copy everything. And the Device manager doesn't always acknowledge a corrupt driver. -- nm - decline Aug 10, 13:11
