I dunno. I do read some of his conservative critics and there are valid points made there as well.

I've always liked Frum and his direction speaks closer to my beliefs than a lot of others, but he does seem to be relying his theories on the grounds that:
A) He can piss off those that are loyal supporters and they won't just tell the party to shove off at some point, and
B) That the new group of "modern and moderate" Republicans will pick up the torch and run with it.
I'm unconvinced that either are very plausible. And I belong to that wing of the right-wing spectrum. Say what you want about the socons, but they are motivated and willing to work for their beliefs. The urban moderates are all too willing to sit back and wait for things to happen than they are to get involved and battle for their positions in any real way.
It's how the socons took control of the party in the first place.
