Mini Work related rant of the day: Where do people get the idea that they can start up a non-profit charity and still pay themselves a large salary?
|
Ummm hello the whole point of a charity is to support a public good, not so that you can get paid from it.
I have been involved with enough organizations over the years to know that you very rarely ever get any sort of compensation for all the time and effort that you contribute to social causes.
E-mail from a client wanting to know how she can start a non-profit so she can recieve government funds which will then pay her a salary.

It depends on the scope of the non-profit. In some cases, that would be total bs. In others, the volume of money and work merits and needs paid staff. -- nm
