I've seen a gazillion commercials (during re-runs of the CSI and L&O franchises, of all things, on TNT and USA)

The commercials are almost beyond Lifetime Movie of the Week bad.
But that doesn't mean it will flop. I mean, Lifetime is still on the air. And the book was huge.
