In response to "rival studios are calling Summit's marketing campaign for Bandslam possibly the worst they've ever seen -- (link)" by farmer ted

The movie is really good, but it was always going to be a marketing challenge. It's the closest thing I've seen to a John Hughes movie in a long time.

And I think that's part of the problem. It's a teen movie that's probably more for thirty-somethings with nostalgia than for current teenagers. Like, really, is a current teenager going to even know what CBGB's is, much less have any affinity for it? And yeah, it has Disney Channel stars, but the soundtrack features David Bowie, Nico and the Velvet Underground, Nick Drake, and Wilco.
