Could you "view source" on slicker/slackertalk, and see if this string is in there:

/* slackertalk_skyscraper */

Right after it, there should be a javascript include to the effect of "show_ads.js". Let me know if you see it; if you do, your browser or server or network is blocking the ads. If you don't, your service provider is stripping them out.
