It works IF your tv was already set on that particular channel. If you have dual tuners, one of them had to be set on that channel.

Like, you could have one channel set on SciFi and the other on NGC--you can't turn on your ABC affiliate and get LOST from the beginnig. Now, if one of the tuners was set on ABC, you can turn on the TV, see that LOST is 20 minutes in, hit record, and it'll go back to the beginning. See?
