when i joined the opera guild years ago i wasn't in the prime seats. one benefit of membership is that they let you know in advance if upgrade seats are available. when i go to the seats i wanted (first balcony down front) i stayed. now i just pay the fee every year to reserve those seats. i can *always* find people to buy them off me if i can't attend!
