Let's say both the #1 & #2 picks don't sign by midnight tonight; both the Nats & the #2 picking team get that pick +1 next season as compensation.

IE, if Strasburg doesn't sign; the Nats get the #2 pick as compensation. They'd get the #1 pick becuase they suck the most right now.

So if the #2 guy doesn't sign, that team would get the #3 pick as compensation? So really the 2nd worst team in baseball this year would be starting at #4 right away, right?

And the #3 guy isn't signed either so conceviably the 2nd worst team this year could be in theory picking #5 overall next year...right?
