and yet I think the 30somethings are more likely to be circumspect about it and take longer to propose while the 21s would be the more impulsive.

the 21s have less likely experienced being burned and aren't as cautious.
though my babyhungry 35yo girlfriend a couple years ago was on a tear to get married. she was married less than a year after we stopped dating.
