As a point of clarification, maybe not a major one, but just want to make it. There is 1 US Constitution and 50 state Constitutions.

You probably knew that, so please bear (bare?) with me here.
The Constitution we get all up in arms about respecting is the US one. The state constitutions....we seem to be changing those all the time for any ol' reason we feel like (at least in some states). They are treated quite differently, and no one usually even knows much about what's in them, really. Except those dirty lawyer types
