Somebody is teaching Sunday School or whatever and it's prayer time for all the kiddies. The teacher is walking around supervising the kids, and she runs across this little boy who is in full prayer position, but is just mumbling his ABCs. She asks him later why he was doing this and not actually asking God for something.

He replied that God is much wiser than himself, and must know better than the boy what the boy really needs in his life and for other people, so he just wanted to let God know he was there, but that he trusted God to do what was best.

Maybe speaking in tongues is in that kind of sentiment.
