You're right. I heard 2 things are different this time: Post-9/11 and the finanicial crisis

Obama has already named a team who get security clearance to help out with national security. And, as I'm sure you've heard, Obama and Biden have already begun getting the Presidential Daily Brief re: terrorism, something that didn't exist in 2000.
Also, Obama is under pressure to name a Treasury Secretary like right now start dealing with the financial mess.
