it's more that i think it's wonderful that our country has made such great strides since 1862 and can finally start making decisions that transcend the horrifying prejudices that so many have held for so long. as a member of the white "majority" i've been mortified by the ignorant, racist attitudes held by so many of this group that i am a part of. yes, it was a too-long-coming, amazing step for african americans but it also felt like such a unifying, proud moment for -all- americans.
if that is making sense at all.
however, i definitely was not proud of our country when Bush was voted into office, but for completely different reasons
