Is it too ambitious to write a cover letter to accompany my resume for the company I'm targeting at the job fair later this week?

Will it seem too eager, or a good amount of passion?
Responses:
I'd sell in person, and if they seem interested ask how to further your application and if they need a letter -- nm

I agree with this. You'll have more information to use for the cover letter. -- nm

No, I don't even know what exactly they're hiring for, although I have a good idea with regards to the industry. -- nm

i would think at a job fair, bring your resume and sell yourself to them in person, not in a letter -- nm

Even if you don't give them the letter, writing it might be helpful for you. -- nm

I would say do both. Keep in mind at a job fair, they'll be seeing LOTS of people.

but definitely make a connection, make yourself memorable to them, and follow up with a nice "thank you" letter

If you flash them, that would be memorable -- nm

I've never had instruction on the protocol for handing over a cover letter at a resume. It's ok? -- nm
