The message here is about overriding personal and parental authority. It isn't about the Baptism so much as it's about the Coach assuming

the right to have it done in place of the parent or the child's decision not to.
That it has strong religious meaning and took place through a public school makes it about a dozen times worse.
The public school is to remain neutral toward religion. Having kids Baptized is NOT remaining neutral and is an insult to those who have chosen not to be Baptized.
