It's along the same lines as the mess that James Buchanan left left for president Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was the victim of cruel caricatures, deliberate misquoting in news stories, debr from a former war and a civil war looming. He was reviled by some in each party for his stances on things like slavery and half his cabinet apointees hated him. In the looking glass of history, however, we consider Lincoln as one of our greatest presidents.
So maybe you might want to give it more than six months before you start yukking it up over his "failures".
