LED is just a lighting system for LCD TVs. Hz is the refresh rate. Faster refresh rate means clearer picture when there's more activity on screen.

There's arguably no different between plasma and LCD. It's HD DVD vs. Blu-ray. No diff. Most TVs today are LCD. The expensive LCDs are lit with LEDs and are fucking thin. They're supposed to stay brighter, longer.
