we had the "earliest versions" of social media in 2001? not hardly. We lost our phone service and TV in Brooklyn and totally relied on the internet. -- nm

The FCC makes TV and radio be ready in case of emergency. No such requirement for internet.

CNN.com was crushed on 9/11 in 2001. Someone on TT posted a cached copy of CNN.com because no one could get to it. -- nm

I was working at Motorola at the time and they re-broadcast CNN onto the internal network like they did for speeches from the CEO
