Normally the last couple of Alaska cruises of the year are in late September and they really cut the prices to put butts in staterooms. I've got friends who took one through Norwegian a couple of years ago at this time. It was she and her husband, her mother, and their two children, they got two outside view staterooms (that Norwegian ended up upgrading to first class), lasted 7 days, ported twice ih Canada, and the whole thing came in under 1000 bucks.
p.s. They always take Mom when the kids are along. She has a great time with her grandkids and they get to have Mommy and Daddy alone time.
p.p.S. Of course this won't help your holiday plans,But if you've got the time off now, just do it. Or, make plans to do it next year. The trick is waiting til the last minute.
