I've had friends and family take a bath on everything from Red Sox playoff tickets to Pats games to U2 concerts and on down the line.

This may somewhat be a function of living in an area where there has been a lot of success recently, and so the prices now far outstrip the actual demand because there is sticker shock after years of multiple playoff opportunities.
It's a good problem to have as a fan, but not if you want to make money on seats.
