I didn't say they ought to. I said they do. There are enough people who know english that the hotel can make it a hiring requirement. -- nm

English is easy. No conjugations. Simple verb tenses. No gendered nouns. The most difficult part is pronounciation. -- nm

I expect tourists would be more likely to ask for hotel staff recommendation on good local restaurants, attractions etc if those staff speak the same
