For my birthday this year, I could bike 120 miles to help fundraise Habitat for Humanity, or take a personal weekend trip (NYC?). Thoughts?

I have no ties with Habitat. I just think it might be fun to be part of a huge group of bikers.
Also, it'll be fall/winter Midwest weather.

Like bicycling or motorbike?

I say, do something different. Habitat will be a memorable experience and it's something new.

Don't I remember you saying that that you were kind of "over" NYC?

I didn't mean "over" in a jaded sense, more that I would like to spend resources experiencing new places if possible.

How can anyone ever be "over" NYC. Even the people I know that live there never say such a thing! -- nm
