the DARE people have good intent, but i realized even back when i was in school listening to them that they didn't always take care with accurate info. their agenda pushes what they say.

re: marijuana, they focused on it being a gateway drug. we know it can be, sure; but it is not so for everyone. if they gave the full story, it wouldn't be so deterrent-y.

unfortunately, i think that some of their methods, like the above, actually can be counterproductive. if you make everything the BIG BAD, and kids see some things not seeming so bad, what really *is* really nasty can seem less bad sorta.
